* 7pm until 8.30pm ********* But arrive early for a 7pm start
GREASBY UKES began in January 2014 and was initially aimed at complete beginners with no musical experience and who fancied playing a musical instrument, but for whatever reason never got round to it. The group still encourages people with no musical ability to come along and have a go and join in the fun of learning to play a ukulele. The ukulele is a great instrument to start off with, and we try to keep each session as fun as can be, and most songs have been arranged using the most common chords of C, F, and G7.
Greasby Ukes meet at Greasby Community Centre each and every Monday, excluding Bank holidays, from 7pm to 8.30pm, and new beginners are always welcome – no need to book just turn up. Initially the sessions are divided into two groups – the main group in the large hall and the beginners group in the small foyer and around 7.45pm we all join together in the hall for the final part of the session.
The beginners group focuses on basic strums and easy to play songs, and is led by one or more fairly experienced uke players focusing on helping you get to grips with the basics of playing. There are always plenty of others to share experiences and difficulties with.
UKEY40 is a small group of Greasby ukers who perform for charities throughout Wirral. The numbers in the group varies to suit the venue being played. The largest venue we have played is Wirral folk festival where all of Greasby ukes can be fitted in the members lounge.
